About the Author

I was born and grew up in Tehran. As a child I dreamed of traveling around the globe, getting to know different people and cultures, and exploring not only our beautiful planet but even beyond that to our solar system and the universe. My special interest domains were art, technology, and travel. As a pioneer in the domain of the internet, I got many offers to work across the globe, which was my dream come true. I was in Silicon Valley and Sophia Antipolis developing the first Internet applications in the 80s and 90s. I lived and worked on 3 continents and 5 countries, and I travelled to 100 countries on 6 continents and met probably 10,000 people. I got to know many foreign cultures and I learned to speak 6 languages.

I have always enjoyed writing and sharing my experiences, mostly business and technical papers. The writing of Persia 1001 Nights came about when I started planning a trip to Iran with a group of friends and realised that while there were already many books about Iran, there was none that looked at Persia through my eyes. So here it is. "Persia 1001 Nights" required a lot of research that took me (us from 8 countries) almost two years. A group of experts from all over the world collaborated with me in researching and writing this book. Incredibly special people with great knowledge, open-minded and interested in travelling and learning about other cultures. I name most of them in my book.
